Finding A Hotel in Idaho Falls

• A WorldWeb.com Travel Guide for Idaho Falls, Idaho.
Friendly Idaho Falls is known for its natural beauty, exciting sights and attractions, and its accessible and appealing location. The city is close to two popular national parks—Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park—and for visitors en route to these destinations Idaho Falls is a worthwhile stop as there are plenty of accommodations from which to choose. Hotels range from budget-friendly lodgings to more upscale independent facilities with services and amenities to make guests comfortable.

Idaho Falls is a small city and it is easy to get around town to see all of the unique sights and attractions. The city is surrounded by wilderness and recreational trails that are suited to biking and hiking in summer and cross country skiing and snowshoeing in winter. The largest attraction in town is Yellowstone Bear World, a wildlife park where visitors can view grizzly bears, black bears and elk in close proximity and in their own natural habitat. Tourists, especially families, will also enjoy the city’s friendly cultural activities and annual events.

HISTORIC DOWNTOWN

Downtown is the oldest part of the city and much of Idaho Falls’ early history has been preserved in its buildings and structures. A modern redevelopment has resulted in a variety of cafes, eateries, wineries and shops popping up in the downtown area. Excitement is added to the downtown buzz by the many community events hosted in the area. Celebrations and events such as concerts, exhibitions, fairs, festivals and the weekly farmers’ market all make downtown come alive with sights and sounds.

Downtown is the place to stay for those that are interested in the city's entertainment and cultural activities. Many downtown hotels have lounges and bars on the premises that buzz with activity. Several mid-range accommodations can be found in the downtown area; and a variety of amenities and services are offered in these types of accommodations, including a free wireless Internet connection, a complimentary breakfast and free parking. Additionally, out-of-town visitors to the University of Idaho find downtown a convenient and comfortable place to stay.

THE NUMBERED STREETS

The Numbered Streets is an area on the east side of the Snake River, originally the city’s first planned neighborhood. Century-old trees line the charming streets, which are filled with traditional houses and plentiful parkspace, and visitors can enjoy staying in smaller, independent hotels found in this this relaxed and friendly community.

Guests will appreciate that some of Idaho Falls’ best attractions are close at hand: expansive Tautphaus Park and Tautphaus Park Zoo are only a few minutes walk away. The Numbered Streets are also very friendly to pedestrian traffic and walkable to downtown so this area is an ideal place to stay for those who would like accessibility to the city center without the downtown buzz.

THE WESTSIDE

The westside is a convenient place to stay for those traveling through the city; Idaho Falls Regional Airport is tucked away in the northwest corner of the city and Interstate 15 runs along the westside of the Snake River. Hotels are concentrated in the westside just off of the highway on Lindsay Boulevard between Grandview Drive to the north and West Broadway Street to the south. There are a mix of chain economy hotels and more comfortable independent establishments. Almost all of these hotel properties offer comfortable services and amenities including a complimentary breakfast, usually continental style, to start the day.
